After my earlier mistake where mistake of enjoying windfall traffic over a season and not harvesting any emails, I was more than ready for the next traffic surge which happened recently. I bonded with my readers in the comments section of the blog and asked them directly to subscribe, promising not to bombard them with unnecessary emails. It worked, my email list surged with opt ins like never before.
